The second generation of the BMW 4 Series Coupe arrives with a whole new look. More power, more torque, and more performance are sure to make this the best 4 Series yet.
Built with the same architecture as the current 3 Series, the new 4 Series Coupe sets itself apart in a few key ways. To begin with, the 4 Series announces its presence with a bold vertical kidney grill. The Coupe is also 2.2 inches longer, 1 inch wider, 2.2 inches lower, and with a 1 inch wider rear track. The longer, wider, and more sophisticated body with a lower center of gravity ensure the 4 Series is more focused on performance when compared to the 3 Series.
The larger kidney grill provides increased cooling to the more powerful engine lineup. The 430i is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbocharged engine. It makes 255 hp and 294 ft-lbs or torque for a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds (5.3 seconds with xDrive). The first-ever M440i xDrive Coupe gets a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbocharged engine. This model makes 382 hp and 369 ft-lb or torque for a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds.
For increased performance and efficiency, the M440i xDrive Coupe includes a new 48-volt mild-hybrid system. A 48-volt starter/generator combines with a 48-volt battery to allow for energy recuperation, storage, and use while driving. Stored power can be used to boost performance during hard acceleration or to power vehicle electronics to reduce strain on the engine.
